A technical industrial centre for wood and furniture companies.

The Wood and Furniture Technical Centre (Centre Technique du Bois et de l'Ameublement ) was created in 1952 for and at the instigation of professionals. CTBA offers support for wood and furniture industries working in the field of Research and Development, as well as in the fields of information, technical support, training, standardisation and certification. From the outset CTBA operated with the aim of promoting technical progress, being involved in the improvement of productivity, and ensuring quality within the industry.
It has the status of a Technical Industrial Centre and is part of the CTI network (Technical Industrial Centres). A Board of Directors manages it.

Personnel and know-how

CTBA was developed around its laboratories and its various teams of engineers, specialists and technicians whose know-how is based on the complex knowledge of wood as a material and its numerous applications.

It employs 260 staff at two locations:

•  Paris : the headquarter with the "Harvesting, sawmilling and Packaging " and "Furniture" Departments.
•  Bordeaux : The "Timber in construction " Department.

Transversal teams work on technical activities:

•  BNBA, the Standardisation Office for Wood and Furniture, is active at a national, European and worldwide level.
•  The Quality Division in the field of product, staff and service certification
•  The Scientific Division
•  Information and Competitive Technology Intelligence.
