The publications of the CTBA

Within the framework of its missions of information and dissemination of knowledge near the professionals, the CTBA regularly publishes books, fruit of its activities of research and formation and its technological know-how, in all the fields touching with wood and its products.
These books are addressed to the professionals, teachers and students but also to the private individuals.

Subject of research for 50 years, heat treated timber, an innovating material, has become an industrial reality. The many developments having occurred these last three years in this field justify the publication of this work. It offers a complete survey of technologies and market.
First, the existing processes in France and other countries are presented in a detailed way. Then, influence of heat treatment on physical and mechanical wood properties, and its durability are described including processes such as machining, gluing, finishing, assembling.
This is the opportunity to specify processing recommendations required by this technology. Markets are then analyzed: offer, demand, costs, levers and restraints which condition the development. Lastly, the basis for qualification procedures of wood treated processes and product characterization are proposed.
